Have you ever wondered which book you should pick up and read? As you stand there in the bookstore, looking over the many titles on the shelves, wondering would this one be good or what about this one, decide to try something totally new and different from your usual fare. I am an avid scifi/fantasy fan and have gotten many people started on my favorite series because they took a chance and trusted my judgement. For example, for a woman who enjoys “supernatural” romance, but has tired of the current titles, I introduce her to Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan in her fantasy series that begins with “Dead Witch Walking.” Or, for a guy who likes to read historical fiction, I’ll point out George R.R. Martin’s A Song of ice and Fire series that begins with “A Game of Thrones.” Not only do they get to experience a genre they might otherwise have overlooked, they have bought a great read. What are some of your favorite books and what would you recommend?
